Farming Is Woven Into Our DNA
For the Klintworth family, farming in Paso Robles is woven into our DNA and has been carried across multiple generations — shaped by the land, strengthened by hard work, and grounded in a deep understanding of agriculture.
Our family’s story in the Paso Robles region reaches back to 1886, when Gerd and Ilsabe Klintworth moved to San Luis Obispo County and established themselves east of Paso Robles in the Linne and Geneseo area near Creston. Gerd became the first licensed winemaker in the Linne District, established its first bonded winery, and developed his own wine label.

A Family Takes Root
Gerd and Ilsabe raised seven children, including sons Henry, Chris, Fred and William. Their sons remained connected to San Luis Obispo County agriculture, carrying forward the family’s farming tradition.
From Field Crops to Zinfandel
After more than half a century farming oats, barley, safflower, wheat and garbanzo beans in Paso Robles, Arnold Klintworth — son of William Klintworth — and his wife Jackie made a commitment to carry forward the family tradition through the planting of Zinfandel at Lime Ridge Vineyard, just outside of Paso Robles.
Growing Premium Zinfandel
For 18 years, the family grew and sold premium Zinfandel grapes to local wineries including Opolo, Robert Hall, Bianchi and Peachy Canyon. Eventually, Arnold partnered with his son Gary Klintworth to offer a limited production of Klintworth Family Wines.
Carrying the Story Forward
Today, Gary Klintworth and his wife Brandi represent a new chapter in the family story — one that honors the generations who came before while creating a deeply personal, limited-production expression of the family vineyard.
The goal is not mass production or to become a large commercial winery. It is to preserve the vineyard, celebrate the family story, and share four generations of Klintworth family farming and winemaking heritage through an intentionally limited number of cases.
This is not an attempt to create a new legacy, but a continuation of one that began generations ago.
